The Beauty of Ordinary Days and Short Walks

Image
On the way  Nature never asked us to hurry. It did not ask for goals, for steps counted, for progress explained. Most days the walk is short. From home to the shop. There and back. Along familiar ground. Hedges waking up. Verge grass brighter each time we pass. Bluebells beginning to gather. Tulips holding colour. Dandelions everywhere, cheerful and uninvited. Magnolia opening, soft and brief. Leaves returning to trees and shrubs — enough to notice, not all at once. Birds lift from the path. Others stay close, singing from somewhere just out of sight. So little recorded. So much quietly held. Only this: walking. Noticing. Letting the day stay kind. Ordinary days. Short walks. Something steady to return to.
