March Quiet Observation

Early Signs of Spring   Written beginning of March and finished end of month Cold again this morning. The air catches in my throat when I step outside. The ground still feels winter‑hard, holding on longer than expected. Later, the weather changes. Not dramatically — just enough. Light shifts. The sun stays. Warmth settles in places that were grey an hour ago. I walk without thinking much about where I’m going. Garden first. Then the street. Then the park. Colour begins to show up everywhere, quietly, as if it has been waiting.     Hyacinths near the path — lilac and light purple. Their scent reaches me before I notice the flowers themselves. It lingers longer than expected. A small almond tree. Mostly bare. Branches thin and exposed. Tiny pink buds appear only if I stand still long enough. Forsythia further on.
